Sam’s Chronicles is an original and humorous action/platform game, situated in a universe filled with mysteries and dangers. It tells the story of Sam, a little boy’s teddybear, who will have to fight off his owner’s nightmares to save him.

Sam’s journey will see him battle against the world of nightmares who are trying to breakdown the limits between reality and dreams.

 

Artists closer to the game production

 

One of the strongest elements in Sam’s Chronicles is the artwork of the game. The visuals and environment immerse the player in another world, thanks to original hand-drawn illustrations. In order to enrich the environment further, specific 3D effects are used to enhance the player’s immersion in the game’s universe. The game is meant to be an artwork where the atmosphere changes based on which world the player is in. The goal is to affect the player thanks to rich and living environments, a great depth and many animations and effects within the scenery.

 

Dynamic music and sound design

 

Another key element in the game resides in the music and sounds. One of the goals is, similar to the visual aspects, take the player into the world where Sam is and live the action with him. Music is at the heart of the experience the player lives through by bringing cohesion and synergy with the graphics and identity unique to each level. As a result, each musical piece is created such that the scenery is synchronized to the music, such that the game is timed by it and the musical themes change based on the action.

 

Deep psychologic and philosophic themes

 

The story begins in a little boy’s room, who is having a terrifying nightmare. A nightmare which transforms into the ultimate enemy to destroy, becoming stronger and stronger while trying to break down the limit between the conscious and unconscious mind to reach the real world and attack the child. The child’s teddy bear will then defend him and fight against the nightmare which will then drag him inside the boy’s dream.

 

Action/Platform with RPG elements

 

Sam is able to walk, run, jump, hold on to and bounce off walls. He also has four different attacks:
Knockout or confuse enemies by jumping on them, attack enemies with a sword, shoot arrows and use magic spells.

The acquisition of new spells, more efficient swords and better performing bows happens throughout the game’s progress, depending on the amount of experience gained. These acquisitions let the protagonist become stronger as he progresses.
